Purpose of the position
Our Intersnack Group packaging team has a great opportunity for a Packaging Expert Rigid (all gender) in our office in Duesseldorf. As part of our group-wide team, you will be the technical expert in our Rigid packaging category (Metal tins, Composite cans, Glass, jars, …), managing the portfolio specifications and leading the development of innovative packaging solutions with a focus on our sustainability goals and ambitions. In this role, you will work closely with external and internal stakeholders (e.g. Procurement, Vendor assurance, Marketing, Engineering, local packaging experts, etc.) within the organization on all levels.
Responsibilities
Represent our Group Packaging team in the Rigid packaging category, being the expert in the category and delivering expert assessment to internal stakeholders.
Lead and define the strategy in the Rigid category for the coming years aligned with Intersnack’s goals.
Develop and optimize rigid packaging concepts with a focus on sustainability, cost-efficiency, quality, material/weight reduction and operational performance
Lead and manage international packaging projects from idea to implementation.
Standardize and optimize rigid packaging portfolio across all markets and sites
Support local packaging experts in Rigid’s packaging projects.
Ownership of technical specifications (including sustainability requirements), validation of new developments, provide technical documentation & best practices and, identify packaging risks.
Monitor industry trend & innovation to identify new packaging opportunities and/or methods for Intersnack’s products.
Prepare reports about progress in projects and category strategy to management
Drive continuous improvement in Packaging standards across the whole Intersnack Group.
Job requirements
Several years of equivalent technical experience in a comparable role within rigid packaging
Experience managing international packaging projects and working in cross-functional environments
Degree in Packaging, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
In-depth understanding/practical experience of rigid packaging like metal tins, lids, glass jars within plant environment and demonstratable knowledge of packaging technologies.
Proactive mindset, strong communication skills, and a structured, solution-oriented approach
Fluent in English; German language skills are a plus
Willingness to travel internationally up to 50%
