Purpose of the position

We are looking for a Group Packaging Expert – Corrugated to join our international Group Packaging Team in Düsseldorf. In this role, you will own and develop our corrugated and paper-based packaging category, ensuring high performance, sustainability, and cost efficiency across Europe. You will drive standardization, optimization, and innovation while ensuring packaging meets business, customer, and regulatory requirements. Working cross-functionally with Procurement, Engineering, Sustainability, Marketing, and regional teams, you will define and execute future-ready packaging strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Own technical specifications and structural design of corrugated packaging

  • Define and execute the global corrugated packaging strategy

  • Drive standardization, harmonization, and cost optimization across the portfolio

  • Lead innovation and development projects for corrugated and paper-based packaging

  • Manage and track packaging projects, including costs, performance, and sustainability impact

  • Establish and implement testing standards and best practices across multiple sites

  • Support sustainability initiatives (waste reduction, material efficiency, compliance)

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop new packaging solutions

  • Share knowledge and train stakeholders on packaging best practices

Job requirements

  • Degree in Packaging Technology, Engineering, or a related field

  • Several years of experience in corrugated or paper-based packaging

  • Strong knowledge of corrugated design, specifications, and cost drivers

  • Experience in packaging processes, ideally within FMCG or food production

  • Proven skills in project management and cross-functional collaboration

  • Structured, analytical mindset with ownership and hands-on approach

  • Strong communication skills in international environments

  • Fluent in English; German is a plus

  • Willingness to travel (up to ~50%)

  • Düsseldorf is preferred location, but not a must, as long as you are willing to commute to Düsseldorf twice a week
