Purpose of the position

This is a key and pivotal role within the Research and Development department. It is aimed at developing and implementing a state-of-the-art specification’s structure. As part of our harmonisation agenda, we need to develop standard working procedures (SWPs) to leverage best practice and up the overall efficiency of the company. This enables Intersnack to secure and further strengthen it’s leading position in the global savoury snacks market.

In collaboration with other expert groups, the Business Process and Specifications Expert will develop and implement the standard work process. SWPs will lead to specifications that unambiguous describe the quality we need to create premium products. The standards are needed to meet consumer demands and are in accordance with our company policies. They are required from the raw materials we buy all the way up to the products we ship to our customers.

The holder of this position must be a strategic thinker with a hands-on mentality and will provide support to category and local teams where necessary.


Responsibilities

  • Analyse the complexity of our portfolio of materials, intermediates and formulations, make overviews and reports on challenges for the harmonisation agenda.
  • Make suggestions for de-complexification and deliver a lean portfolio of high-quality specifications.
  • Process expertise of specialists from a variety of functions for development and implementation of standard work processes (SWPs) to prevent slipping back into unnecessary proliferation.
  • With our IT solutions team, ensure that our specifications and ERP software is fit for purpose.
  • Develop and manage approval workflows to train product development, quality, and procurement teams in deployment of these new ways of working.
  • Develop and leverage best in class ways of working to enhance the capabilities of the wider specification’s community.

Job requirements

Education

Master’s degree in Food Science / Food Technology, Chemical Engineering - or equivalent work experience


Experience

Approx. 3 to 5 years work experience in the FMCG sector as well as R&D Process experience, particularly in Raw Material Specification creation and approval using workflow based database systems


Skills required for the job

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to make easy to understand overviews.
  • Understand the difference between good complexity and bad complexity.
  • Results orientated mindset.
  • Ability to work in an environment where people have different interests.
  • Ability to operate at a senior level within the Food Industry.
  • Experience of coaching and developing remote teams.
  • Numerical and financial aptitude.
  • Fluent spoken and written English is a must, any further language spoken within Intersnack is considered a plus.
